So, for science, we learned about physical and chemical changes. We were allowed to make a few stuff, and I chose the chocolate cake. the ingredients are here -> https://www.chelsea.co.nz/browse-recipes/5-minute-chocolate-mug-cake/Its a chemical change, since it's just ingredients mixed together.
I am a student at St. Bernadette's School. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

ReplyDeletemark it is a chemical change because it is ingredients mixed to make a new thing.
ReplyDeleteHi Mark.
ReplyDeleteGood work on your blog. Making mug cakes is fun. Thanks for adding the recipe link. Would you recommend it?

Hi Mark,
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you trying out some of the science activities today. Hopefully your mug cake tasted delicious! I noticed that you thought it was a physical change. Charles has left you a comment to explain that it's actually a chemical change because you used the ingredients to create something new. That is correct. I'll explain why...
When you bake a cake you combine eggs, flour, sugar, butter and other ingredients. Each ingredient has it own set of properties. If you mix them together and bake the batter in the over (or microwave) you get something completely different. Therefore it is a chemical change.
Perhaps you could find out a bit more about what a Physical change might be and let us know what you discover. Next Friday we might do some experiments that involve a Physical Change.
